These are my most commonly asked questions about Boudoir sessions. If you have a question that wasn’t addressed in this FAQ page, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org! I would love to hear from you =)
What exactly IS Boudoir photography?
Boudoir photography can mean different things to everyone you ask, but I see it as tasteful, classy, and gorgeous photos and an empowering experience for women. To see women arrive at their session nervous, timid and unsure of themselves and leave with a newfound confidence and ecstatic about their photos is so rewarding to me.
Who should get a Boudoir shoot?
EVERY woman! Even if you have had 4 kids, even if you have 5 or 10 pounds you want to lose, even if you have areas of yourself that you aren’t happy with. Do it for your husband or partner. Do it for your future groom/wife and gift an album of your photos on your wedding night or on your honeymoon. But most importantly, do it for YOU! Show yourself the beauty that has been neglected or forgotten. Prove to yourself that you can still be sexy. Remind yourself what it’s like to feel confident and ready to take on the world. Do it because you just lost weight and want to show off your new body. Put yourself first. Do it now, exactly how you are, no matter what size you are, and let me show you how beautiful you are.
Why do most of your packages include hair and makeup? Can I just do it myself?
I often feel that hair and makeup is more important than the outfits a client chooses, because of that transformation that takes place. I think the pampering of hair and makeup is part of the experience of a Boudoir session and helps a client relax. The hair and makeup artists who work with me know exactly how to bring out your beauty and apply the right amount of makeup to show well on camera while still looking like yourself.
Can I bring my own props to my session?
I encourage you to! Within reason, of course. Feel free to bring anything that adds a personal feel to your session – a guitar, a fedora hat, something of your partner’s, masks, birdcage hat/veil, or anything you want to bring to showcase your personality or to make your session feel more like you. I also keep a small amount of props for client use such as jewelry, scarves, hats, and more.
How will you edit my photos?
I believe that through wardrobe selection, use of props, selective lighting, and posing techniques, I can flatter your best features and hide your not-so-favorite features. That is all part of my pre-session consultation. I offer basic retouching and small skin smoothing to remove blemishes, wrinkles, and cellulite.
I’m nervous and don’t know how to be “sexy”
I hear clients say this all the time and they turn into total bombshells during their sessions!! Being nervous about performing in front of a camera is understandable and totally normal. That’s what I’m here for. I will coach you into flattering poses and figure out the best variations for your body type and look you’re going for.
Will you post my photos on your website?
Your privacy is incredibly important to me. I will not post any photos from your session on my website/blog or on social media (Facebook) without specific written consent.
Do you offer Pin-Up Parties or Boudoir Parties?
Yes I do! Please contact me for special pricing for groups of 3 or more. These parties can be a fun event for a bachelorette party or girls day with everyone receiving a keepsake album with images from their session.
